Overview

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.

This role is based in the United States, with Pacific or Mountain time zone strongly preferred to support collaboration with teams in Australia. You should expect regular travel to Sydney, San Francisco, and Seattle.

About the Role

Atlassian is reimagining the future of teamwork with AI at its core. Jira’s mission is to autonomously organize, plan, and track work for our customers, then supply context from Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph to agents that help get the work done.

We’re looking for a visionary Head of Product for Jira to lead the product organization responsible for Jira’s experience, AI, and customer adoption. In this role, you’ll shape the surfaces where humans and agents work together: work items, boards, lists, backlogs, plans, agent sessions, and the Teamwork Graph context that makes Jira agents uniquely powerful.

You’ll lead a global team of product managers across Australia, the United States, and India. Reporting to Jira’s Head of Product, you’ll operate as an immediate deputy, directly responsible for strategy, team building, and executing major initiatives. You’ll work closely with engineering and design leadership across Atlassian, spend meaningful time with customers, and hold a high quality bar for everything we ship.

Responsibilities

  • Product Leadership: Own the multi-year product strategy for how humans and agents do work together in Jira, including new teamwork patterns that emerge as agents take on a larger share of delivery.

  • Core Jira Experience: Lead the product vision for work items, boards, lists, backlogs, plans, views, and mobile experiences used by both humans and agents.

  • AI & Agent Context: Define what a Jira agent knows that a generic agent does not, and how the Teamwork Graph turns that context into visibly better outcomes for customers.

  • Customer Adoption: Drive agent adoption in Jira, including in-product discovery, onboarding, automation and chat adoption, and the path from a user’s first agent invocation to habitual use.

  • Team Leadership: Build, develop, and scale a large product organization, hiring, coaching, leveling, and managing product managers and PM managers across three geographies.

  • Product Craft: Set the bar for experience-led product management inside Jira, with a focus on taste, prototype-first thinking, and protecting quality by cutting scope when needed.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with leaders across Atlassian, especially in the Teamwork Collection and AI groups, resolving duplicated work and aligning teams around shared outcomes.

  • Customer & Market Voice: Act as the senior product voice with customers and in the market, translating what you learn from real teams into a durable experience vision.

Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Experience leading a high-functioning, world-class product organization.

  • A track record of shipping high-quality customer experiences at scale, where craft and taste were differentiators rather than feature count.

  • Experience partnering with design leadership as a peer to deliver exceptional user experiences.

  • Strong recent experience shipping AI-powered product experiences, with a clear-eyed view of where AI can fail users.

  • Product-led growth fluency, including demonstrated impact on adoption and retention — not just feature delivery.

  • Technical fluency across platform architecture, data systems, and AI, including strong working knowledge of generative models and agent architectures.

  • Executive-level cross-org influence, including the ability to resolve overlapping work between organizations without escalating every case.

  • Comfort operating with an incomplete picture: making decisions, stating assumptions, and correcting course when new information emerges.

Typically, product leaders at this level have

  • 12+ years of product management experience.

  • 5+ years managing product managers, including experience managing managers.

  • Experience leading globally distributed teams and building strong product craft across geographies.
