Working at Atlassian

Responsibilities

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Principal Technical Program Manager to help make Atlassian products accessible for every team, especially our largest enterprise customers.

In this role, you’ll lead complex, multi-product accessibility programs across engineering and design. You’ll turn regulatory and customer requirements into pragmatic technical plans, drive alignment across multiple teams, and help us find reusable, efficient ways to meet accessibility expectations at scale.

You won’t write code day to day, but you’ll be deeply technical, credible with senior engineers and designers, and comfortable shaping end-to-end solutions that span shared components, design systems, and product surfaces.

What you’ll do

  • Define and own the multi-quarter accessibility program roadmap across multiple products.

  • Translate enterprise accessibility requirements and standards into clear problem statements, technical initiatives, and success measures.

  • Lead cross-team programs that involve design systems, platform components, and individual product teams (e.g., Jira, Confluence, JSM).

  • Partner with engineers and designers to develop reusable patterns and components that make accessible experiences the default.

  • Embed accessibility into product development workflows (design reviews, technical design, testing, rollout), not just as a post-launch checklist.

  • Work with customer-facing and compliance teams to design efficient engagement models for enterprise accessibility (e.g., VPATs, escalations, CAB workflows).

  • Drive adoption of automation, tooling, and metrics for accessibility (e.g., automated checks, shared test plans, defect and cycle-time metrics).

  • Communicate program status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to senior leaders and stakeholders.

On your first day, we’ll expect you to have

  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering management, or similar roles in software.

  • A track record of leading high-impact, cross-functional technical programs that span multiple teams and surfaces.

  • Strong technical acumen: you’re comfortable reviewing technical designs, understanding architecture trade-offs, and partnering with senior engineers.

  • Experience working in or closely with one of: accessibility (WCAG, ARIA, assistive tech), compliance, or other regulated environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to:

    • Build and execute multi-quarter roadmaps.

    • Manage complex dependencies and de-risk delivery.

    • Use data and metrics to inform priorities and track outcomes.

    • Communicate clearly with executives, engineers, designers, and customer-facing teams.

  • Comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces and creating structure where it doesn’t yet exist.
