The Platform Foundations Design Team at Atlassian is dedicated to helping regulated and large customers succeed on our platform. We build trust with our customers by ensuring their data is safe and secure, and we provide them with the controls they need to confidently adopt and manage our apps at scale.

As a Lead Product Designer on the Platform Foundations team, your main focus will be designing features that enhance the current cloud security offerings to meet enterprise-grade capability and experience standards.

You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, and security experts across the US and Australia, while reporting to a Senior Design Manager based in the US West Coast.

• Lead the design strategy for security offerings, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.

• Own and deliver high-quality design solutions across multiple workstreams or a domain area, prioritizing projects, resources, and timelines to maximize business and user impact.

• Elevate the quality of product design within your team, mentoring designers and fostering a culture of critique, learning, and continuous improvement.

• Define, socialize, and evolve design standards, systems, and patterns for security and compliance, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.

• Partner with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and execute the broader Platform Foundations strategy, facilitating alignment and shared vision.

• Drive and advocate for design research best practices, synthesizing insights to inform and validate design decisions, and ensuring solutions are data-informed and user-centered.

• Provide coaching and feedback to less senior designers, lead design critiques, and build relationships across Atlassian and with external partners to strengthen the design community.

• 8+ years of experience designing complex SaaS or enterprise products, ideally in security, identity, or admin tooling.

• Proven ability to lead design for technically challenging domains and deliver high-impact features at scale.

• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, from discovery and research through to polished UI and shipped features.

• Experience collaborating with distributed teams and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

• Deep empathy for users – especially admins and security professionals – and a passion for solving their toughest problems.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and rationale to cross-functional partners.

• Familiarity with Figma, user research methods, and agile product development.

• Experience designing for AI and with AI as part of your design workflow.

• Bonus: Experience with security, authentication, or compliance products; experience working with US-based teams.

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $189,000 - $246,750

Zone B: $170,100 - $222,075

Zone C: $157,500 - $205,625

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
