We're hiring a Head of Workplace Management

Our Workplace Technology team (part of Atlassian Corporate Engineering) is composed of people with backgrounds in various technical disciplines. This impactful team delivers innovative and impactful solutions that address critical business needs within the enterprise. They are a highly collaborative and agile team, adept at quickly adapting to changing requirements and delivering high impact results. Using strong engineering expertise, combined with a deep understanding of enterprise-level operational challenges, enables them to build robust and scalable solutions that drive significant business value. This team fosters a culture of continuous learning, constantly seeking opportunities to enhance their skills to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Lead and Execute Complex Initiatives: Take ownership of intricate programs from conception to completion. This includes meticulously defining program scope, setting clear, measurable objectives, and establishing success metrics. Develop and meticulously manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve strategic goals.

  • Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Cultivate robust and productive relationships with stakeholders across diverse departments and organizational levels. Proactively facilitate productive meetings, adeptly resolve conflicts and roadblocks, and ensure unwavering alignment on program goals and deliverables among all involved parties.

  • Manage Program Risks and Issues: Implement a proactive approach to risk management. Identify potential risks early, assess their impact, and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies. Develop and implement robust contingency plans to effectively address unforeseen challenges and ensure minimal disruption to program progress.

  • Track Progress and Report on Key Metrics: Establish and maintain rigorous monitoring of program progress against defined milestones and objectives. Analyze data comprehensively to identify trends, pinpoint areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions. Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and regular status reports to all relevant stakeholders, providing transparency and accountability.

  • Ensure Program Quality and Delivery: Maintain consistently high standards throughout the entire program lifecycle. Conduct regular and thorough reviews of deliverables, processes, and methodologies to ensure adherence to best practices, industry standards, and organizational guidelines, ultimately guaranteeing high-quality outcomes.

Strategic Contributions and Leadership

  • Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement by actively identifying and implementing process enhancements. Optimize workflows, leverage new tools, and streamline operations to enhance program efficiency, effectiveness, and overall organizational performance.

  • Mentorship and Team Development: Foster growth and development within the program management function. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior program managers and project managers, sharing expertise and best practices to elevate individual and team capabilities.

  • Simplify the World Around: Translate complex technical and strategic concepts into clear, understandable language for both technical and non-technical audiences. Leverage past experiences and lessons learned to provide practical insights and simplify intricate challenges, facilitating better communication and decision-making.

  • Identify New Opportunities: Proactively scout for and drive the development of innovative ideas from initial inception through to successful delivery. Champion good ideas, ensuring they are appropriately prioritized and that any technical — and sometimes non-technical — challenges to their realization are effectively identified and overcome.

  • Industry Acumen: Maintain a keen awareness of industry standards, emerging trends, and the competitive landscape. Analyze market dynamics and competitor activities to inform strategic program direction and identify opportunities for differentiation.

  • Research and Development (R&D): Actively assess new and external technologies, products, and solutions. Evaluate their potential benefits for the organization, identify opportunities for integration, and proactively assess any potential threats they might pose to existing systems or market position.

Qualifications

Your background

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative or technical field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.

  • Program Management Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in program management, demonstrating a proven track record of successfully delivering complex programs from initiation to completion.

  • Leadership and Execution: 7+ years of experience leading and executing intricate, cross-functional programs within dynamic environments. This includes extensive experience in stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and resource allocation across multiple teams.

  • SAAS Management Expertise: Strong foundation and practical application of various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall). Ability to adapt and apply the most suitable methodology to different program needs.

  • Interpersonal Skills: A natural "people person" who excels at building and nurturing meaningful relationships with team members, stakeholders, and external partners. Possesses excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.

  • Analytical Acumen: A passion for leveraging data and analytics to identify trends, diagnose challenges, and formulate innovative solutions to unique and complex problems.

  • Adaptability and Resilience: Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous, and rapidly evolving environments, demonstrating the ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to change, and maintain composure under pressure.

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $232,400 - $303,150

Zone B: $209,000 - $273,775

Zone C: $193,500 - $252,675

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
