What we are looking for

Atlassian is seeking a Head of Ventures who is passionate about driving growth in the enterprise
SaaS space. In this role you will lead our investment strategy across all our markets, working
hand-in-hand with Atlassian’s product and GTM leaders to identify, evaluate and execute important strategic opportunities. Not only will you execute a high volume of investments, you will play a critical role in shaping Atlassian’s inorganic growth path over the long run.

The Head of Atlassian Ventures will report to the Head of Corporate Development and lead Atlassian Ventures’ investment strategy across all markets. You’ll work closely with product leaders and executives to identify, evaluate, and execute strategic investment opportunities, providing the insights and analysis needed for informed decision-making at the executive and Board level.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Set and evolve the Ventures investment strategy in alignment with company objectives and broader inorganic growth goals, ensuring all investments drive Atlassian’s long-term growth and innovation.

• Investment & Portfolio Management: Oversee the full investment lifecycle—from sourcing to close—managing a diverse, global portfolio and maximizing value creation.

• Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing, collaborative team of investors and portfolio leads.

• Market Engagement: Maintain strong internal and external relationships to stay ahead of industry trends, identify new opportunities, and keep a pulse on the markets Atlassian operates in.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with leaders across Product, Engineering, and other functions to evaluate investments and ensure strategic alignment.

• Operational Excellence: Lead high volumes of communications, meetings, and travel; drive improvements in reporting, financial analysis, and investment reviews.

• Thought Leadership: Represent Atlassian Ventures internally and externally as an ambassador for Atlassian’s investment strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science or related field

• 5+ years experience in investing, business development, strategic partnerships, corporate development or related deal roles

• Demonstrated track record of venture capital investing (or a strong angel investing track record and experience as a founding team member with experience raising venture capital)

• Deep understanding of enterprise technologies, demonstrated engagement in the startup ecosystem and passion for new / future markets

• Demonstrated ability and desire to navigate and collaborate in a large matrixed, complex organization.

• Ability to influence internal and external audiences and stakeholders, provide thought leadership to executives, and find creative solutions to a changing set of challenges

• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $246,600 - $321,950

Zone B: $222,300 - $290,225

Zone C: $205,200 - $267,900

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
