Atlassian is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for the position of Head of Governance. In this key leadership role, the individual will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing business value by effectively overseeing governance practices, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and adherence to all relevant standards and policies.
The focus will be on strengthening, redefining, and implementing a comprehensive governance framework for training and awareness that aligns with and supports the organization’s strategic objectives. The individual will spearhead the management of governance strategies, ensuring alignment with both commercial and federal regulatory requirements. This role involves leading the development and execution of governance frameworks, policies, and controls to ensure our training and awareness initiatives adhere to the highest standards. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for developing metrics and dashboards to effectively monitor and report on progress and effectiveness.

Strategic Leadership
· Develop and implement a comprehensive governance strategy that supports the organization’s goals and mitigates risk.
· Lead the governance function in collaboration with senior leadership to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Policy Development and Management:
· Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of governance policies, standards, and procedures.
· Ensure policies are effectively communicated and integrated into business operations.
Regulatory Compliance:
· Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
· Stay abreast of emerging regulations and assess their potential impact on the organization.
Governance Frameworks and Best Practices:
· Establish and maintain governance frameworks, including the implementation of best practices in governance and compliance.
· Regularly review and update governance frameworks to ensure they are current and effective.
Risk Management:
· Collaborate with risk management teams to identify, assess, and mitigate governance-related risks.
· Develop metrics and reporting mechanisms to provide insights into governance and compliance performance.
Stakeholder Engagement:
· Engage with key stakeholders, including senior management and board members, to provide updates on governance activities and initiatives.
· Foster a culture of compliance and governance across the organization.
Team Leadership:
· Lead and mentor a team of governance professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
· Ensure continuous development and training of team members.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
· Work closely with other departments such as Legal, IT, and Internal Audit to ensure cohesive governance strategies and initiatives.
· Lead cross-functional teams to address complex governance challenges.
Qualifications:
· 15+ years of experience in Governance, risk management, compliance management, cloud compliance, product compliance and relevant domain
· 10+ years of experience as a people manager
· Strong knowledge of governance management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
· Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, drive cultural change, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk concepts clearly and concisely.
