Overview

The Senior Principal Engineer will drive our People and Legal technology landscape forward by leading engineering efforts towards our next generation of applications, building strong partnerships and collaborations across Atlassian. Ensuring that our hybrid (first- and third-party) product portfolio is cohesive, consistent, and integrated with the broader Atlassian ecosystem.

The Senior Principal Engineer will be at the center the work we’re doing to build one of the best TEAMs in the world.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  1. Create a vision for a connected ecosystem, and lead the engineering organization to deliver on a cohesive experience.

  2. Develop engineering excellence standards and drive adoption of those across the entire People & Legal tech organization.

  3. Support the teams' transformation to data-driven decision making, defining metrics and implementing their measurement.

  4. Work with dependency teams to develop a plan and roadmap, integrating our products into the broader Atlassian ecosystem.

  5. Help with hiring and mentoring of other engineers on team.

  6. Act as Technical Lead for a large area, providing leadership to other senior technical leads

  7. Build relationships with key People and Legal stakeholders and Engineering leaders across Atlassian.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

  2. 10+ years of experience working as senior Software Engineer.

  3. 5+ years of experience acting as Technical Lead for a team of engineers.

  4. Nice-to-have: Experience in or passion for the People/HR or Legal domains.

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $239,000 - $318,600

Zone B: $215,100 - $286,800

Zone C: $198,400 - $264,500

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
